RHIZOME – Building workshop for a community gathering sculpture
Inspired by the rhizome, a connected root system, we are also intertwined together: During the festival, we feel and reach out to each other and make new connections. This workshop is all about sitting and lying down as an informal way of connecting: The metaphor of a connected, growing, and collective structure is the starting point for a seating sculpture which the participants locate and design together. This structure nestles into the festival site and is planned as a landscape of lounging and sitting, which can meander across the site, separate or spontaneously grow back together. The construction will be done with existing materials on site such as building materials, tarps, fabrics, and natural materials like stones, wood, and straw. The workshop will serve as an open idea pool, creating a sculpture that can be used by all festival participants as (a) place(s) of collective gathering and relaxation.
